Seth Rogen is setting the record straight about a rumor about Emma Watson on the set of This Is The End.
For those unfamiliar, here’s a little backstory. Seth and Emma once worked together on the 2013 apocalypse comedy This Is The End, where the film’s star-studded cast, which also includes James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Channing Tatum, and more, appeared as a version of themselves – Seth co-directed it alongside Evan Goldberg.
A rumor went around that Emma refused to shoot one of the scenes and stormed off the set – and when Seth was asked what happened in a recent interview with British GQ, he told the magazine: “I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?’ You know? I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was. But it was not some terrible ending to our relationship.”
“She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film. No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end,” he continued. “She was probably right. It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”
After multiple outlets reported that Seth just confirmed the rumor about Emma, he took to social media on Monday (March 29) night to clarify his statement.
“I want to correct a story that has emerged from a recent interview I gave. It misrepresents what actually happened. Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s s–tty that the perception is that she did,” Seth wrote in a message on Twitter.
“The scene was not what was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed drastically and was not what she agreed to,” he explained, adding, “The narrative that she was in some way uncool or unprofessional is complete bulls–t.”
“I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable position,” he continued. “She and I spoke on the night; it was overall a s–tty situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did. We agreed on her not being in the scene together.”
“I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again. I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it,” he concluded.
Amid all the online drama, another celeb is also speaking up for Emma to let fans know what kind of person she really is.
“Pure love. @emmawatson is a legend and an amazing human being. Not that it needed saying but…well…she is,” her Beauty And The Beast co-star, Josh Gad, wrote on Instagram.
