Back in June, Shakira and her ex-partner Gerard Pique announced that they had ended their relationship.
Now, it appears he was moved on with someone new — and a source is speaking out about how Shakira has been affected by it.
The insider spoke about the custody battled between the former couple and also dished on how Shakira has been feeling about Gerard’s new woman.
Gerard, 35, was seen packing on some major PDA with Clara Chia, a 23-year-old model who reportedly worked for him. They were photographed kissing at a Dani Martin concert in Puigcerda, Spain, earlier this month.
The insider told Us Weekly that Shakira has been “heartbroken” over the photos, and added:
“She is happy to have her kids to lean on as this is a tough time for her.”
They also spoke about the “messy” custody battle between the exes, saying:
“She just wants what’s best for the kids and is trying to keep them away from hearing and seeing all the negative things in the news about her.”
Shakira and Gerard were together for 12 years. They share two sons, 9-year-old Milan and 7-year-old Sasha.
She is also facing legal trouble right now that may potentially lead to an eight-year prison sentence.
