Shawn Mendes is just the sweetest.

A fan named Amelia wasn’t sure if she was ready to face going back to Manchester Arena – even though she already had tickets to see Shawn’s concert. You see, she was also at the Ariana Grande concert two years ago when the terror attack happened.

Amelia is one of the lucky ones who was able to escape the tragic incident, but was “severely shaken up and unable to talk for days after what happened,” per ITV.

When Shawn’s tour was set to take him to Manchester in April, Amelia, who’s a huge Shawn Mendes fan, (“I really love Shawn Mendes. His songs are just so touching.”) wanted to see him – but her mom wasn’t ready to go back.

Her friend, Aaron, who was a police officer helping deal with the chaos going on at the arena that time two years ago, offered to go with her. But even as they were going to go to see Shawn onstage, she was understandably scared about returning to the place where she has some terrifying memories of.

Little did she know that there was a sweet surprise planned for her.

“Today, we’re not only gonna go to the concert. You’re actually gonna meet Shawn Mendes,” Aaron told her.

Amelia teared up at the news. “Thank you so much,” she said through tears of joy. “I can’t even believe that.”

“It means a lot. He’s so inspiring. So, the fact that I’m meeting him…it sounds so weird to say!” she added.

Walking through the same door she was carried out of two years ago, a tearful Amelia got a big hug from Shawn.

During his concert, Shawn praised the people of Manchester for their resilience and bravery.

“It was really overwhelming and it felt so surreal but I really enjoyed it,” Amelia later said about meeting the “In My Blood” singer. “[He] was so nice to me and I’m a bit overwhelmed… I have new positive memories in there and they will definitely cancel out the negative ones.”
