Sophia Bush is opening up about a horrible fan encounter she experienced.
The 40-year-old One Tree Hill star and activist detailed what happened in an appearance on the Podcrushed podcast of Penn Badgley, Sophia Ansari, and Nava Kavelin. She shared that an aggressive fan told her at the time that she was a “TV prostitute.”
She said that the encounter took place after she noticed that a man at the bar she was at would not stop recording her every move. As she recalled what happened, she said:
“I’m not a zoo animal.”
Sophia then went over to ask the man to stop recording her:
“I say, ‘Hi, I’m a person. I’d like to shake your hand. My name is Sophia. You’re making me really uncomfortable, man. I’ve asked you to stop. I’m a girl in a bar. You are a man I do not know. I don’t wanna be videoed on your phone. And my friends don’t either. Can you please stop?’”
But she said that his response was not what she was expecting:
“[He said] ’I don’t have to stop. You’re in public.’ I said, ‘Okay, but is there no world in which you can understand that you are making me feel like a piece of meat, like I’m not human?’ And he goes, ‘I watch your show, so I pay your f***ing salary. You are a piece of meat to me.’ And I just went, ‘What?’”
She asked him if he realized how he was speaking to her, to which he replied, “You’re just a TV protitute.”
