Fans of One Tree Hill were thrilled when news broke that a reboot of the beloved series was in the works, with Netflix reportedly developing a spinoff. The potential reboot is expected to feature original cast members like Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, both of whom are also set to executive produce the project. However, while excitement has been building, Sophia Bush recently clarified that nothing is “official” just yet.

During a recent episode of her popular podcast, Drama Queens, Sophia opened up about the status of the reboot. While she couldn’t share too many details, she acknowledged the buzz surrounding the potential series and addressed some of the rumors that have been swirling.

“What I can say is that after, God, close to half a decade of these conversations, we’ve been able to all sort of divide and conquer in the coolest way,” she shared, according to People. It turns out that talks about a potential reboot have been ongoing for quite some time, with the actors and producers working behind the scenes to bring the idea to life. “Those of us with TV producing experience are having some really exciting conversations,” Sophia added, giving fans a glimmer of hope that this reboot could become a reality.

While many fans are eager to see their favorite characters return to the screen, Sophia made it clear that the reboot isn’t set in stone yet. She explained that the development process is still in progress, and much of it has been kept under wraps. “So I think that’s all I can say on this podcast, but I do hope we have exciting updates, and I hope we get great news, and we have a big announcement,” she said, keeping things mysterious while still offering a bit of hope.

One thing that has been a bit frustrating for Sophia and her team is that news of the reboot leaked before they could officially announce it. “Do I wish that the news hadn’t leaked before we could announce it was official? Sure,” she admitted. Still, she remains optimistic about the potential for a new series and is proud of the team behind the project. “But if it happens, I will be so freaking proud, much like we said, that every single person gets to bring their expertise to the table now,” she added.

The One Tree Hill cast has come a long way since the show first aired in 2003, and they’ve all gained valuable experience in the entertainment industry. Sophia commended the cast for everything they’ve accomplished over the years, noting that if the reboot does come to fruition, the original cast would bring a lot of talent and expertise to the table. Their collective experience as actors, producers, and creators would undoubtedly give the reboot a fresh, modern edge while still staying true to the heart of the original series.

For now, fans will have to remain patient and hopeful as the development process continues. Although nothing is official, it’s clear that the possibility of a One Tree Hill reboot is on the horizon, and Sophia Bush’s excitement and pride in the project are infectious. Whether the show makes its official return or not, it’s clear that the love for One Tree Hill is still alive and well among both the cast and its devoted fans.
