Barely a month after celebrating their son’s first birthday, news broke that Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund have ended their relationship.
It has been confirmed that the 30-year-old actress and 37-year-old actor have gone their separate ways. They were together for almost three years.
An insider dished to ET that the former couple “are not living together anymore” and that they are “not romantically together.”
The source also shed some light into what led to the separation, stating:
“[They] grew apart when Garrett was away working.
Their relationship has been rocky for a long time, and the situation is really sad right now.”
They added, however, that the two remain dedicated parents to their child:
“They are still co-parenting, and still doing things as a family.”
And the source also spoke about how Emma adores motherhood:
“Emma absolutely loves being a mom and is extremely protective over Rhodes. He’s her whole world and has really centered her.
She feels so appreciative to have family and friends who support her.”
Almost a year ago, Garrett opened up in an interview about the joys and transitions of parenthood:
“Every day is a blessing. He’s an angel.
I like to call this period the precious delirium. Everybody says, ‘Appreciate it. Soak it up. It goes by so fast,’ so I’m really taking that advice and really trying to wallow in it.”
Less than a month ago, Emma and Garrett threw their son, Rhodes, a cute rodeo-themed party for his first birthday,
The former couple began dating in March 2019, and welcomed Rhodes over a year later, in December 2020.
A few days before their split made the headlines, Garrett joined Instagram and shared his first post, which was an announcement that he would be releasing his first song as a solo artist. He wrote:
“Been cookin’ somethin’ up in the studio for the past couple of months, and now I finally get to share it with the world: my first single as a solo artist, ‘The Road,’ comes out this Friday, 01/21.
Got a lot more stuff coming out soon, and I can’t wait to share it all with you. Until then, help me out and show ‘The Road’ some love by preserving it.”
After the news of their separation came out, Garrett made the headlines again — this time, for being in custody after being arrested for public intoxication. He was arrested in Franklin County in Tennessee Saturday (January 22). His bond has been set at $2,100 for misdemeanor arrest.
