Spotify turned the heat up even more at Coachella weekend last April with it’s Desert Kickback event at Zenaya Estate, a “resort chic” and “beach-inspired” bash with great vibes and great music — and DJ Kitty Ca$h was there for an exclusive set that definitely got temps rising!
Kitty Ca$h is a multi-hyphenated force of nature, a renaissance woman making an impact on the pop culture scene. And now, we’re bringing you Spotify’s one-on-one with the DJ, producer, style mixer, and fashion influencer on the ground at the event.
When you were booked for this, what were the first things that came to mind when partnering with Spotify during Coachella?
I was really excited about the opportunity since Spotify knows how to throw a party! The venue was incredible and [I was] blown away by how beautiful it was. I knew the crowd would be filled with music lovers and guests who were ready to party.
What genre(s) of music did you have in mind when envisioning this set and the environment of this party?
Since the event was taking place during Coachella weekend 1 at the incredible Zenyara estate, a few genres I prepped in my set was dance, electronic, and world music.
How did you prepare for this set?
The key is if I’m dancing my ass off and having a great time — so will everyone else. That was the mental prep!
How did your outfit bring the vision of your set alive?
My outfit was vibrant and fun just like the set! I wore a dress by Iam Gia and shoes by Vetements. Once I look good and feel good, everything else just flows.
Can you take us on a journey of your set? What song did you start with, what was the best song reaction you played, and what song did you end with?
With each set, it really depends on the time and space and how with music you can guide the crowd’s energy. Since it was a desert day party, we kept it high energy and despite the heat, everyone really just wanted to dance.

Fine- Kitty Cash feat. Kiana Lede – I started with my personal single featuring Kiana Lede to kick off the party
In This House- The Pack – This song just gets everyone going and a crowd pleaser
Da Ghetto- J Balvin Skrillex – Another song that puts everyone in a great mood and gets the best reactions from guests
Farruko – An instant burst of energy, I closed out my set with Pepas to keep the vibe and energy going
Is there a holy grail song you play during every set?
No, I love switching it up and keeping it fresh and curated for every set/event!
