Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has passed away.
The talented dancer and longtime DJ from Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show has tragically died. He was 40 years old.
tWitch’s wife, dancer Allison Holker, ran into an LAPD station on Tuesday (December 13) when her husband left the house without his car. Shortly thereafter, the police received a call about a shooting at a hotel in Los Angeles.
Allison released a statement on her husband’s death. Read her heartbreaking words here:
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.
Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
Stephen was married to Allison for nine years and they share three kids together – Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6, and Zaia, 3. The couple had just celebrated their wedding anniversary last weekend.
tWitch’s cause of death was confirmed after the medical examiner closed the case. Outlets report the death “has been ruled a suicide by a gunshot wound to the head.”
New details emerged about his tragic passing. TMZ reported that he checked into a motel on Monday (December 12) for a one night stay. The motel he went to was less than one mile from his home with Allison and their kids. Staff told TMZ that tWitch “didn’t appear to be in any sort of distress and wasn’t visibly upset about anything.”
He was found in the bathroom of his room. Employees entered his room when he missed check out. Staff said “no one heard gunfire at any point.”
It is being reported that Allison believed something was wrong prior to tWitch’s passing, telling police she knew something right because he left home without advance notice and stopped all communication. Law enforcement sources said that when she arrived at the LAPD station to report that tWitch was missing, she stressed that his disappearance was out of character. She was so insistent that his behavior was odd that officers reportedly considered listing him as a “critical missing persons” case.
tWitch began DJing for Ellen’s show in 2014. He is also well known as a dancer and was the runner up on the 2008 season of So You Think You Can Dance.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
