Stranger Things just dropped the trailer for their much-anticipated third season and fans are stoked for the return of the Eleven and the gang!

The trailer transports us to the summer of ’75 in Hawkins, Indianna, where we see the return of beloved characters and get to meet some new ones, like Cary Elwes as Mayor Kline, and Maya Hawkes as Robin.

The trailer is jam-packed with clues of what’s in store for the third season – and opens a whole lot of questions we hope will get answered as well.

The unexpected arrival of the trailer had elicited some hilarious reactions from Twitter.

“The new stranger things trailer has everything: the music, the fashion, the 80s AESTHETIC, the character development!! THE FLAVOUR,” one fan tweeted.

“Me: I can’t get anything done today. The Stranger Things trailer came out.

Wife: It’s three minutes long.

Me: I have to watch it 95 times,” another fan shared.

“I’ve never had plans on July 4th but the trailer for season 3 of Stranger Things came out today and I know exactly what I’m doing now…” another shared.

“Cary Elwes is playing Mayor Kline in #StrangerThings3. If his campaign slogan isn’t “As you wish” then what are we even doing here? @netflix,” a fan wrote.

“WHEN WILL THEY EVER LET MY BOY WILL BYERS BE HAPPY AGAIN I’M SO ANGRY #StrangerThings3,” referring to yet another scene of a distraught Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp).

“OK so I’m ridiculously hyped for Stranger Things 3 in all regards, but above all I want all of Eleven’s outfits,” one fan shared.

And another fan is hyped about Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) and Max’s (played by Sadie Sink) budding friendship. “They are going to be such a soft and powerful duo I can already feel it. #StrangerThings3,” the fan wrote.

But there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss scene in the trailer which got some eagle-eyed fans triggered – a close up shot of a beat up and bloody Steve Harrington (played by Joe Keery). Check out their reactions below:

“Only thing the #StrangerThings3 confirmed is that Steve Harrington is gonna get badly beat up for the third season in a row,” one fan observed.

Stranger Things trailer gave me first montage of happy Steve Harrington just to torture him in the end…… they had us in the first half not gonna lie,” another fan expressed.

A fan wants to speak up for the character’s well-being. “I’m starting a petition the ‘stop-hurting-steve-harrington-he’s-just-trying-to-protect-his-6-kids’ #StrangerThings3”

And another is calling for Steve’s safety and happiness. “Can y’all just leave Steve Harrington alone? just let him be safe and happy. he deserves that.”

It’s been a year and a half since we last saw them on screen – Season 2 dropped on Halloween of 2017 –  and, it’s like we’re seeing the kids grow right before our eyes. As Mike (played by Finn Wolfhard) puts it, “We’re not kids anymore.” The trailer promises that one summer can change everything.

Stranger Things Season 3 is dropping on the 4th of July!
