No one was prepared when Taylor Swift announced that she was dropping her surprise album, Folklore. But that hasn’t stopped fans from showing love for the 30-year-old songstress and her latest project – she smashed it on the Billboard charts!
Folklore debuted at the top spot of the Billboard 200 albums chart, AND “Cardigan” also landed the top spot on the Hot 100 song chart at the same time – making her the FIRST EVER artist to debut at number one on both charts in the same week!
Not only that, Taylor also landed 3 spots in the top 10 with her new singles within the same week – “Cardigan” at number one; “The 1” at number four; and “Exile” at number six.
Apparently, Taylor is also the FIRST EVER artist to debut two songs in the top four at the same time!
And as if that’s not enough, Taylor also beat out Nicki Minaj’s record for most Hot 100 entries for a female artist. She now has 113 songs that’s entered the Hot 100, topping Nicki’s 110.
It looks like even Taylor was surprised at all her major feats – she had the best reaction on Twitter.
Retweeting a Billboard announcement that reads, “@taylorswift13’s “Cardigan” officially debuts at No. 1 on this week’s #Hot100 chart. This is the first time in history that an artist has debuted at No. 1 on both the #Hot100 and #Billboard200 in the same week,” she added a GIF of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson saying, “Oh My God.”
Congrats on the accomplishments, Taylor!
