Taylor Swift is spilling the tea on her music.
The 30-year-old songstress is known for hiding Easter eggs in her lyrics, which always has fans speculating about the story behind each song – for example, many believe that Taylor’s 2014 hit “Bad Blood” is about Katy Perry, whom she was rumored to be beefing on the DL for years.
They’ve since appeared to have made up – after Katy sent Taylor a literal olive branch at the start of her Reputation Tour in 2018. Katy has since made a cameo in Taylor’s “You Need To Calm Down” music video. Most recently, she received a handcrafted gift from Tay for her newborn daughter whom she welcomed in August.
However, it’s the breakup songs that have fans wondering the most – and Tay finally shared with Rolling Stone that her 2012 album Red was specifically a heartbreak album.
“I look back on this as my true breakup album, every other album has flickers of different things,” Taylor said for the Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums podcast. “But this is an album that I wrote specifically about pure, absolute, to the core, heartbreak.”
The multi-award-winning album, which featured hits like “All Too Well,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “22,” “Everything Has Changed,” and more, was her last country album before she made the jump to pop. It also bagged an AMA for Favorite Country Album, two Billboard Music Awards for Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Country Album, and was nominated for two Grammys.
