Taylor Swift’s Lover Fest is officially cancelled.

It’s been a year and a half since Taylor first announced her Lover Fest Tour, in support of her seventh album, Lover. The shows were originally scheduled to kick off in April 2020, with 12 dates across the globe, including two-night stints in Southern California. She was also set to headline England’s Glastonbury Festival.

But when the pandemic hit, many of her performance dates were cancelled amid safety concerns. In April 2020, she officially postponed six of the dates until 2021.

The songstress went on Instagram Story on Friday (February 26) to share the sad news with fans that Lover Fest will no longer be happening.

“I love coming on here to tell you good news, or to share a new project with you,” she wrote on Instagram Story. “It’s not my favorite thing in the world to have to tell you news I’m sad about. I’m so sorry, but I cannot reschedule the shows that we’ve postponed. Although refunds have been available since we first postponed the Lover Fest shows, many of you hung onto your tickets and I too hung onto the idea that we could reschedule.

“This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she continued. “I’m so disappointed that I won’t be able to see you in person as soon as I wanted to. I miss you terribly and can’t wait til we can all safely be at shows together again.”

Since her April 2020 announcement, Taylor has dropped two more albums – Folklore and Evermore. While fans won’t be seeing Taylor perform songs from Lover live this time around, keep your fingers crossed for when it’s safe to attend concerts again that her next tour will cover all three!
