Taylor Swift has found herself unexpectedly tangled in the legal drama surrounding It Ends With Us, and her team is not happy about it.

The pop superstar has officially been subpoenaed by lawyers representing Justin Baldoni — who stars in and is producing the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel — and her rep says the whole thing is just a publicity ploy.

For context, Taylor is a longtime friend of the film’s leading lady, Blake Lively. The singer also granted permission for her haunting track “My Tears Ricochet” to be featured in the movie’s soundtrack.

However, according to lawsuit documents, Justin allegedly claimed that Taylor, along with Blake and Ryan Reynolds, was involved in creative discussions about the film. That’s something Taylor’s team is now firmly denying.

In a statement provided to JustJared.com, Taylor’s rep said:

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

They added, “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

The lawsuit, which continues to play out ahead of a scheduled trial in March 2026, has taken several unexpected turns. But dragging Taylor Swift into it — especially considering her minimal connection to the film — seems to be where her team draws the line.

While It Ends With Us fans are still anticipating the film’s release, this behind-the-scenes legal battle is becoming almost as dramatic as the story itself. But if Swift’s reps have anything to say about it, she’s not about to become a supporting character in someone else’s courtroom drama.
