The Spice Girls Didn’t Invite Posh On Their Reunion Tour

As we all know by now, the Spice Girls are officially going back on tour. YAY!

As we all also know by now, the Girls will be one Spice short when they go on tour, as Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice will not be joining them. SNIFF.

And now, we have more details on how that all went down – and apparently, there’s an interesting twist to all of it: Posh wasn’t asked to join them on tour!

Yes, you read that right. As it turns out, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm – otherwise known as Ginger Spice, Baby Spice, Scary Spice and Sporty Spice – did not ask Victoria to go on their upcoming tour with them.

The four made the reveal in an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV in the UK – and they explained why they did what they did. Or in this case, why they didn’t do what they didn’t do.

Mel C shared:

“Do you know what is actually quite funny. I saw Victoria recently and obviously we’ve all been in contact, she is still very much a part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her. But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed.”

Geri reaffirmed what Mel C said, by sharing a little anecdote of her own:

“I spoke to her two days ago, before the announcement and she has said it for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore, so we knew that.”

Now, before anyone jumps to any conclusions, this isn’t a case of Spice turned sour. There’s no bad blood between the women – just love and respect. As Emma stated:

“She just didn’t want to do it. She was busy with her fashion and she has moved on. The philosophy of us is that we are a band, on and off the stage and we care for each other, we support each other and we support her and she has been a huge part of our lives and we care about her, so it’s all good.”

That’s what we want to hear – that tour on no tour, all five Spice Girls are totally on good terms.

Emma also revealed that Victoria was never really into the whole performance aspect of being a Spice Girl:

“We realized that a while back that she didn’t enjoy that so much.”

And as for that Mel B Halloween costume – where she dressed up as Posh Spice holding up a sign that said “No I Am Not Going On Tour”, they all chalk it up to Mel B’s cheeky sense of humor. Mel B said:

“It’s very tongue in cheek and I really enjoyed being Victoria for the night.”

Victoria expressed full support for the girls and their new endeavor on Monday (November 5) after they announced their tour. She wrote on Instagram shortly after the announcement:

“Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year.”

Ginger, Baby, Scary and Sporty Spice are all in complete agreement though that should Posh change her mind, the “door is open” for her to join them on stage!

Ginger, Baby, Scary, Sporty AND Posh all together performing their hits on stage again? That would be so so so awesome!!!
