Golf pro Tiger Woods made an epic comeback on Sunday when he won his fifth Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
Tiger shared a heartfelt message of thanks on Twitter. “I can’t thank my family, friends and fans enough for their support. Having my family by my side today is something I will never forget. To not only be able to play again, but to be able to win again, is something I will forever be grateful for. This jacket sure is comfortable.”
The 43-year-old golf star won his first Masters title in 1997 – at the age of 21. At the time, his dad, Earl Woods, was with him, and they shared a heartwarming hug after he won. Sadly, his dad died in 2006 at the age of 74. And the last time Tiger won the title was in 2005 – four years before his son, Charlie, was born. His daughter, Sam, was still a baby at the time.
Now, 22 years and five green jackets later, Tiger brought things full circle – with his kids watching as he triumphed on the green. After the win, Tiger was caught on video rushing to envelope his son in a tight bear hug. His mom, Kultida Woods and girlfriend Erica Herman were also in attendance.
“To have my kids there, it’s come full circle. My dad was here in ’97, and now I’m the dad with two kids there,” he said after the round.
Following his win, the legendary golfer’s famous fans took to social media to offer their congratulations.
Justin Bieber shared a photo of Tiger’s triumphant expression, captioned, “Tears.. so proud of this man.”
Nick Jonas shared a toast with his brother Joe to celebrate the win. “The tradition continues… and OH MY GOD! What an unbelievable day. We watched Tiger Woods win the Masters. Congratulations @tigerwoods that was incredible to watch. History. #themasters #tigerwoods,” he captioned the photo.
