Tory Lanez is going to prison.

The 31-year-old rapper, real name Daystar Peterson, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot three years ago in 2020.

The prosecution had been hoping he would be given a 13-year prison sentence, while the defense was seeking a probation sentence.

According to outlets, Tory was convicted back in December on three felony counts, namely “Assault with a semiautomatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.” The said incident took place on July 12, 20200 after they attended a pool party in Hollywood Hills.

Torys lawyers claimed that the evidence leading to his conviction was “questionable at best” and stated that his lack of remorse therefore should not figure into his sentencing. They also said that if the allegations were true, then alcohol abuse and childhood trauma would be considered factors in his behavior.
