Rapper Tory Lanez is recovering after being brutally attacked while serving time at California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi.
On Monday, May 12, reports broke that the 32-year-old had been rushed to the hospital following a violent altercation in the prison yard. Later that day, a spokesperson for Lanez confirmed the seriousness of the incident in a statement posted to his Instagram.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times – including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his rep,” the statement read.
The injuries were extensive. “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus,” the message continued. “He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.”
The update comes after Lanez—real name Daystar Peterson—was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. He has maintained his innocence and, at the time of sentencing, refused to apologize to Megan.
