Trevor Noah has signed off from The Daily Show.
The host has officially left Comedy Central’s late night program after hosting for seven years.
In his final episode, he gave an emotional farewell to his fans, and gave a special thank you to the Black women who have shaped his life and his career. He said:
“I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas. Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me, informed me? My mom, my grand, my aunts, all these Black women in my life.
I always tell people if you truly want to learn about America, talk to Black women. Because unlike everybody else Black women can’t afford to f–k around and find out. Black people understand how hard it is when things go bad.
When things go bad, Black people know that it gets worse for them. But Black women, in particular, they know what sh** is.”
Trevor closed off his seven-year hosting stint on the show with some advice to his fans and viewers, saying:
“If you truly want to know what to do or how to do it, or maybe the best way or the most equitable way, talk to Black women. They are a lot of the reasons that I’m here.”
