Vanessa Bryant got an unexpected gift from her late husband, Kobe Bryant, a day before her birthday.
It’s been nearly four months since Kobe and her daughter Gianna Bryant passed away in a tragic helicopter crash, along with seven other victims.
On Tuesday (May 5), she went on Instagram to share with fans that she found a letter from her late husband that she’s never read before – the day before she turned 38.
“Yesterday I found an envelope labeled To: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi ❤️I waited to open one more letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today.❤️The irony is that Kobe had a photo of me drawn with an Angel holding me up by an artist on the cover. Missing the Love of my Life and my sweet little Mamacita- my fellow Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my 3 sweet girls today. Wish we were all together. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️#MyBirthdayWish,” she captioned a photo of her holding the envelope.
She later shared a photo of her youngest daughter, 9-month-old Capri, wearing her daughter Gianna’s dress, writing, “Capri looks just her daddy (in Gigi’s outfit)! ❤️🎂”
Her posts comes a few days after she remembered Gianna on what would have been her 14th birthday.
“Happy 14th Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Gianna,” Vanessa captioned a pic of a smiling Gianna. “Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you. You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday. I wish I could wake up and have you here with me. I miss your smile, your hugs and your giggles. I miss EVERYTHING about YOU, Gigi. I LOVE YOU so much!!!!!!! ❤️🎉🎂🎉❤️.”
In April, Vanessa commemorated what would have been her and Kobe’s 19th wedding anniversary – her first anniversary without her husband.
Remembering the love of her life on their special day, she shared a photo of her snuggled up to Kobe on a couch together while her kissed her cheek. “My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding anniversary baby. I miss you so much. I wish you were here to hold me in your arms. I love you. ❤️,” Vanessa captioned the pic.
She also shared a clip of Kobe’s interview from 2001 – the year they got married – where he opened up about how he knew she was the one.
“You know, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly makes a person the one for you, but you just know,” Kobe said in the interview. “I mean, love is a funny thing, I can’t explain it and I don’t understand it but all I know is she caught my heart. And I just knew she was the one.”
“Yeah, Vanessa, she’s very strong. She’s very strong-willed,” he added.
Predicting the would have a big family, he also shares his thoughts on the future: ” I see us as being two cool-a– parents. Young parents, full of energy. She has a ton of energy and I have a ton of energy.”
She captioned the precious clip, “My LOVE ❤️My HEART.”
