Vanessa Morgan has reportedly taken on a new role – she’s now mom to a newborn son!
According to E! News, the 28-year-old Riverdale actress welcomed her first child with estranged husband Michael Kopech.
“Vanessa had the baby, and Michael is with her as well,” a source told the outlet. “They’re both thrilled.”
Vanessa and Michael said “I do” in an intimate ceremony in January 2020. In July, she shared the happy news that she was expecting a little bundle of joy.
“Was debating keeping this part of my life hidden but I knew people would see pictures eventually with my belly & I wanted you guys to hear it from me 🥰,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram at the time.
“I do want to keep this chapter of my life private but did want to be the first to share the news. I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January 💙 It’s almost like eveything I thought mattered in this life has completely changed,” she continued. “We’re here for such a greater purpose and life is so precious. I can’t believe how much growth & strength you’ve already given me as your mom. It’s like God knew I needed you, my angel. The universe works in mysterious ways but always times everything the way it was meant to be.”
However, just three days later, news of her split with Michael hit the headlines – he had filed for divorce a month earlier.
It’s still unclear when she gave birth, but she did reveal in mid-December that she’d gone on maternity leave from filming Riverdale. She also revealed that her pregnancy had been written into the show’s fifth season.
“Officially on maternity leave!!!! Ahh!! Feeling grateful to my showrunner & producers for being so accommodating & writing my pregnancy into the show!🤰🏽Also proud of my body for allowing me to still work almost 9 months preggo. Now time to have a baby! 👶🏼 lol Happy Holidays everyone 🎄,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram at the time.
