Something out of the ordinary happened to Olivia Wilde on stage that piqued everyone’s attention.
On Tuesday (April 26), the 38-year-old actress and director was on stage making a presentation at CinemaCon to introduce the never-before-seen trailer for the new film that she directed, Don’t worry Darling. An unidentified person suddenly approached the stage to hand a manila envelope to her. The envelope was marked “personal and confidential.”
As she was unexpectedly presented the document, Olivia asked:
“Is this for me?”
Eyewitnesses thought what was happening on stage was “odd” but “everyone assumed it was something about her presentation.” They also stated that Olivia “didn’t seem to be shaken” by what had just transpired and even laughed it off. The envelope was not addressed.
News spread about what happened, and people began to wonder just what was in the manila envelope. Now, ET has confirmed that the envelope actually contained legal documents from Olivia’s ex, Jason Sudeikis.
The legal documents pertained to the former couple’s children and custody arrangements.
Jason’s rep declared:
“Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis.
[Jason] had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”
Head of CinemaCon Mitch Neuhauser said of the incident:
“A situation like this has never happened before and the priority at this convention has always been to protect the integrity of our studio partners and talent in attendance.
Unfortunately, something happened. We will address it. We take this very seriously and we will be reevaluating security protocols.”
Olivia and Jason began dating in 2011. They got engaged a year later, and welcomed two children together. They ended their engagement in November 2020. A couple of months later, Olivia entered into a relationship with Harry Styles, whom she directed in Don’t Worry Darling. Olivia and Harry are still together.
