In late April, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez began heating up the headlines with a possible reconciliation. But when Ben’s bestie, Matt Damon was asked about it in May, he played coy on the matter.
“It’s a fascinating story. I hope it’s true,” he said on the Today show at the time.
However, he did say that it would be “awesome” if they were back together.
“I love them both. I hope it’s true. That would be awesome,” he added.
Ben and Matt are longtime friends – they’ve known each other since they were kids; they were even roomies when they were just starting out in Hollywood. They’ve always been vocal about their friendship and have shown support for each other over the years.
Over the weekend, Bennifer 2.0 went public with their rekindled romance – while celebrating J.Lo’s 52nd birthday in St. Tropez. The now-confirmed couple went Instagram official when J.Lo shared a sweet photo of the two of them kissing aboard a yacht.
Although Matt wasn’t on the trip, he fully showed his support for Ben and J.Lo’s renewed relationship at the premiere of his new movie Stillwater, which also stars Abigail Breslin.
In an interview, Matt was once again asked about his thoughts on his best friend and J.Lo’s reconciliation – and this time, he didn’t hold back.
“I’m just so happy for him. He’s the best. He deserves every happiness in the world,” Matt told Extra, adding, “I’m glad for both of them.”
Aww…
