Sex And The City’s HBO Max revival And Just Like That just finished its freshman run, and series star Sarah Jessica Parker is getting candid about her feelings regarding former co-star Kim Catrall.
Kim has been very vocal in the past about not being on good terms with the rest of the SATC cast. The actress, who played Samantha Jones, has been adamant about never returning to the character again. She did not appear on And Just Like That.
But is she welcome to join should the show get another season?
In a new interview with Variety, Sarah, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, revealed her sentiments on the matter. When asked if she would be ok if Kim ever wanted to come back, Sarah said:
“I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared. I haven’t participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.”
She stated that they never approached Kim for And Just Like That, given her past public statements:
“We didn’t go to Kim for this, you know. After we didn’t do the third [Sex and the City] movie and the studio couldn’t meet what she wanted to do, we have to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her.
It didn’t fit into what was important or needed for us.”
Sarah did add however that she is able to separate Kim from her character, Samantha:
“There’s a very distinct line between Samantha and Kim. Samantha’s not gone. Samantha’s present, and I think was handled with such respect and elegance. She wasn’t villainized. She was a human being who had feelings about a relationship, so I think we found a way to address it which was necessary and important for people that loved her.”
