Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez just shared photos of how the proposal went down – and it’s soooo romantic!
J.Lo and A-Rod are sharing their special moment with fans on Instagram. Sharing a series of photos on her account, Jennifer shared a blow-by-blow account of the uber romantic moments – from when Alex got down on one knee to how they sealed it with a kiss. The “On the Floor” singer simply captioned it with the date of their engagement: “3.9.19.”
The retired New York Yankee also shared the photo of him sliding the ring on (a visibly shocked) Jennifer’s finger and captioned it with: “Locking it down,” along with a blue heart emoji and the hashtag #futuremrsrodriguez.
Stars and fans alike have showered the couple with congratulations from the moment they shared the news of their engagement. And Alex opened up about the engagement on his Instagram Story.
“There aren’t many words to share with you, only feelings. Gratitude. Excitement. And just … joy. We know there is work to do to keep building a family and future we can be proud of, and we can’t do it without all of you. We are so thankful for all your messages of love and congratulations,” he wrote alongside another sweet photo of the two of them standing on the beach, with him kissing J.Lo’s forehead.
Jennifer also shared a screenshot of his Instagram Story on her account.
But that’s not all – they also took their celebration sky high!
Looks like A-Rod can’t stop professing his love for J.Lo because their private plane was decked out with a banner with “SHE SAID YES,” balloons that spelled out “CONGRATS,” a bottle of champagne (already chilling in an ice bucket) and even powdered donuts with diamond-shaped toppers.
This comes after Alex shared a photo of their bed with “I <3 U” spelled out in rose petals and six long-stemmed roses arranged at the foot of the bed.
Multiple sources have also shared accounts of the couple’s engagement.
According to a source, J.Lo totally no idea that Alex would be proposing and was “shocked” when it happened.
“Jennifer was shocked as the two talked about marriage, but she wasn’t aware he’d be proposing that day,” the source told ET. “Both Alex and Jennifer have been married before, and official wedding planning hasn’t started, but the two do want to celebrate the day with their family and famous friends.”
Both Jennifer and Alex have children from previous marriages – J.Lo has 11-year-old twins Max and Emme, and Alex has two daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella,10. They’ve pretty much become a blended family unit, even before the proposal. And the source also adds that the kids were a “driving force” when it came to Alex asking for J.Lo’s hand in marriage.
“For them both, they are still all about their family with the four kids. Their initial strong attraction for each other would have quickly faded if they had not been able to come together as a family,” an insider told PEOPLE after the proposal.
“Their kids all accepted each other and got along from the beginning. It’s always tricky when you merge families, but Jennifer and Alex did a great job from the start. The kids are amazing together. And they have wanted Jennifer and Alex to get married for a long time. They will all definitely be a huge part of the wedding.”
Singer Ne-Yo also dished that J.Lo’s been the happiest he’s seen ever since he’s known her.
“I’m super happy for her. She’s over the moon,” he told ET. “She really is. You can totally tell. I won’t say it’s the happiest she’s ever been — I don’t personally know — but it’s the happiest I’ve seen her since I’ve known her, so that being said, good job A-Rod!”
