Zac Efron is opening up about a very scary incident.
In 2021, the 34-year-old actor’s appearance in a video very quickly went viral as fans noticed that his face looked much different than before. At the time, a lot of people assumed that he got plastic surgery.
Now in a new interview, Zac put those plastic surgery speculations to rest. He revealed that he shattered his jaw a while back, explaining that he had been running inside his house with his socks on and then slipped and fell. This caused him to hit his chin squarely against a granite fountain.
Zac said he passed out and that upon regaining consciousness his chin bone was already hanging off his face.
He went on to say that the reason his face looked different is that his master muscles overcompensated due to his injury. The master muscles are on the cheeks and they are used for chewing.
While promoting his new film at TIFF, the Greatest Beer Run Ever star revealed that the accident nearly killed him. He said:
“It was funny. It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.”
He also said that is was his mom who told him about the rumors:
“My mom told me. I never really read the internet, so, I don’t really care.”
