Zac Efron and Nina Dobrev are beasts in the gym. Seriously!
Zac invited Nina to join him in a workout routine in the new YouTube video entitled Nina Dobrev Crushes Zac’s Workout | Gym Time w/ Zac Efron. And as if seeing the actor flexing those muscles wasn’t enough, he later gave audiences a glimpse of his washboard abs! But more on that later.
ICYMI, Zac is officially on YouTube. And if you can’t get enough of The Greatest Showman star, his channel promises to drop new videos every week.
So far, he’s posted two videos. And it looks like the 31-year-old triple threat is creating quite a few series on his channel, too. According to the descriptions, the Off The Grid is about “Outdoors and adventure with my best friend and brother, Dylan. Come along with us as we travel the world and get out of our comfort zones!”; Gym Time w/ Zac Efron series, on the other hand, is “a weekly show where I train with athletes, celebrities, and interesting people alike to get a sense of who they are and what their goals are.”
The latest video dropped over the weekend and, in it, Nina and Zac compared fitness notes and tried out a few workouts in the gym – with the help of a couple of trainers. Zac also got Nina to open up about a few tidbits about her life.
“I was a gymnast when I was little,” Nina told Zac in the video. “I wasn’t doing it for fitness. It was just fun and it was competitive and challenging. I like playing sports – I like playing volleyball on the beach.”
After going through a series of warm up exercises, the two shared some insights about working out.
“Another great part pf working out is the community of it and going to work out with friends and having that accountability,” Nina said.
“What’s something that we all love to do? Hanging out with our friends,” Zac added. “Sometimes we do it in the gym and we’re all becoming better, fully present for here.”
After doing some arm exercises, they worked on their obliques, where the trainer had them doing exercises to achieve those Brad Pitt abs from Fight Club.
Zac pushed himself, saying “Brad Pitt wouldn’t quit.” And, afterwards, lifted his shirt up to reveal rock hard abs.
“15 reps, and he literally turned into Brad Pitt,” Nina joked. “That wasn’t there before.”
She also shared a few anecdotes about her trip to South Africa – where a lion chased them out of their territory. Yikes!
After what looked like a grueling workout routine – which they totally killed btw – Zac had Nina try a cryosauna, where the person stands inside a machine exposed to freezing temperatures. The cold helps with recovery and muscle repair.
And that’s when things got interesting.
Nina had to stay inside for three minutes – the maximum allowable time for the sauna – and to help keep her mind off the cold, Zac proposed to ask “very profound, deep, soul-searching questions” like:
Zac: Pancakes or waffles?
Zac: Favorite theme song?
Nina: “I’m Good” by the Mowgli’s
Zac: If you were a vegetable, what vegetable would you be?
Nina: A carrot…because it’s the first thing to pop into my head and I want this to be over.
As she stayed in the negative temp longer, the questions did delve a bit deeper. Here are some of them:
Zac: What makes you cry?
Nina: Other people’s pain
Zac: Who are some of your heroes in life?
Nina: Audrey Hepburn and my mom
Zac: If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?
Nina: Harry Potter
Zac: What’s the one fictional place would you most like to go?
Nina: What’s the one with Falcor? Never Ending Story!
Zac: In your group of friends, what role do you play?
Nina: The alpha.
These two sure looked like they had a fun time at the gym!
