A$AP Rocky believes he’s found “the One.”
For most of last year, the 32-year-old rapper has been sparking romance rumors with one triple A-list celebrity – Rihanna. And fans are finally getting confirmation – from A$AP himself!
In a new interview with GQ, A$AP (real name: Rakim Athelaston Mayers), opened up about his relationship for the first time – and did not hold back about his feelings for his lady love.
He called RiRi: “the love of my life” and “my lady.”
And when asked what it’s like to be in a relationship, he answered, “So much better when you got the One.”
“She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones,” he adds. “I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”
A$AP was previously romantically linked with a number of high-profile ladies – including Kendall Jenner, Chanel Iman, Iggy Azalea, and Teyana Taylor. But, according to the magazine, “he says he’s comfortable embracing monogamy.”
Rihanna and A$AP have been pals for a while, and they’ve hung out loads of times – fans have practically been shipping them ever since he opened for her Diamonds World Tour in 2013.
The couple started sparking romance rumors in January of this last year – following news of her split with ex-boyfriend Hassan Jameel. But speculations ramped up even more when A$AP starred in a campaign for RiRi’s skincare line, Fenty Skin – fans couldn’t help but notice sparks flying when they did a bunch of press together last July.
10 months after they first started sparking dating speculations, the romance rumors showed no signs of cooling down. In November, the pair were spotted having dinner at Beatrice Inn in New York City with some friends. Then, when Christmas rolled around, reports came out the A$AP flew to Barbados to spend the holidays with Rih’s family.
A source told Entertainment Tonight at the time that meeting her fam was an “obvious step” in their relationship.
“Spending Christmas together was an obvious step for Rihanna and A$AP,” the source said. “They’ve known each other for so long as friends and in a work setting, which makes it so easy for them to get along, travel together and be involved in each other’s lives to the full extent. They always have such a good time together and definitely seem in love.”
A$AP, whose dad is from Barbados, also opened up about his trip, telling GQ, “It was like a homecoming thing. It was crazy.”
“I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America,” he continued. “And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar.”
And when asked about becoming a dad one day, A$AP says, “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely.”
“I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very,” he added.
