Leonardo DiCaprio has had women drooling over him for decades. After all, he’s got the dashing looks, that killer smile, those stellar acting chops. And apparently, now we can add “heroic character” to that list!

In a recent EW roundtable sit-down with the cast of his new movie, Don’t Look Up, Leo shared the story of how he braved the freezing cold to save his beloved dogs — with a little help from co-star Jennifer Lawrence to boot.

The 47-year-old actor began the story by saying of his two dogs named Jack and Jill:

“Basically, they both fell in a frozen lake. I didn’t understand what you do in a frozen lake.”

Jen then took over storytelling duties, relaying:

“One of the dogs fell in, and he jumped into the frozen lake to save the dog.

As soon as he pushed the one dog out of the pond, the other one jumped in.”

To this, Leo then added:

“Well, the other one started licking the one that was drowning, and then we all were in the frozen lake together.”

He adorably went on to say that Jack and Jill didn’t “understand the concept of a frozen lake” because the two were California pups. Jen then jokingly stated:

“I’m sure you guys are all wondering, I was too — he immediately got naked in the car.”

Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay jokingly described Leo’s dogs as “absolute tornadoes” — to which Jen agreed, calling them “psychotic.”

Leo shares ownership of both Jack and Jill and a third dog, Sally, with his long-time girlfriend, 24-year-old model Camila Morrone.
