Amy Schumer is opening up about her health struggles.

Earlier this week, the actress and comedian shared that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Posting a throwback photo of her fishing, she captioned it, “My first ever fishing pole,” adding, “Anyone get LYME this summer? I got it and I’m on doxycycline.”

She also shared that she may have gotten it years before she was diagnosed before asking for advice.

“I have maybe had it for years. Any advice? Can you have a glass of wine or 2 on it? I know to stay out of the sun. I’m also taking these herbs from cape cod called lyme-2. Please comment or text me on my number in my bio. I also want to say that I feel good and am excited to get rid of it,” she continued in the caption.

Amy is the latest celebrity to open up about her Lyme disease diagnosis. Bella Hadid, her mom Yolanda, and brother Anwar were diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 – however, it’s thought they may have been infected years earlier. Avril Lavigne also opened up her health struggles with Lyme disease in 2018. In January of this year, Justin Bieber revealed that he had also been diagnosed with the disease.

According to the CDC, Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks and affects the joints, the heart and the nervous system. Symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a skin rash.

Last month, Bella opened up about her daily struggles with what she called “the invisible disease” on her Instagram Story, sharing an infographic where she highlighted the almost thirty symptoms that affect her – including headaches, brain fog, insomnia, sensitivity to light and noise, anxiety, confusion, nausea, disordered eating, joint pain, and weight gain and loss.

“Every day I feel at least 10 of these attributes without fail … since I was probably 14, but more aggressively when I turned 18,” she wrote.
