The CMA honored some of the biggest names in country music on Wednesday (November 11) with this year’s CMA Awards.

Hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rocker, the evening featured performances from Jason Aldean, Jimmie Allen, Ingrid Andress, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen and more. Justin Bieber also made his CMA Awards debut, performing “10,000 Hours” with Dan + Shay.

Some country artists, however, did not appear at the CMA Awards after they or those near and dear to them tested positive for coronavirus.

Prior to the show, Rascal Flatts announced that a band member had tested positive.

“Hey Y’all, we wanted to let you guys know that we have received a positive COVID test within the band,” they shared on Twitter. “As much as we were looking forward to performing at the CMA Awards tonight, we will no longer be attending in the interest of everyone’s safety. We miss y’all and stay safe!”

Jenee Fleenor and Lee Brice, who were also slated to perform that evening, have also come down with the virus.

Lady A also dropped out of the lineup of the evening’s performers after a family member tested positive.

“Taking a look back at last year’s CMA Awards and all the fun that we have every year getting to hang out with our country music family! Sadly, one of our immediate family members has just tested positive for COVID-19 this week,” Lady A wrote on Instagram.

“So far, the three of us continue to test negative, and out of caution and love for everyone involved with the CMAs, we’ve decided to stay home from the awards tonight. We’re bummed that we won’t be able to perform with Darius Rucker and Thomas Rhett, but luckily Charles already taped his performance with Carly Pearce so you will still be seeing him take the stage!” the band continued. “We’ll be cheering on our friends at home like the rest of y’all! Stay safe out there 💛💛 ⁣⁣📷: @katiekauss 2019 CMA Awards.”

Charles stepped in for Lee as Carly’s duet partner for “I Hope You’re Happy Now” after the latter tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week.

Miranda Lambert led the pack with six nominations, and made history as the most-nominated female artist in CMA history. Maren Morris, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Dan + Shay are among those who received multiple noms.
