A resurfaced interview of Anya Taylor-Joy is going viral.

An interview that the actress did back in 2016 with W Magazine recently made the rounds again online. She had just risen in popularity thanks to her role in the horror movie The Witch the year before.

She was asked in the sit-down interview if she ever felt ‘self-conscious’ because her ‘eyes are so far apart.’ Anya, then 20 years old, candidly opened up about being bullied over how she looked. She confessed:

“I can definitely remember when Facebook was a thing and I was never aware that my eyes were far apart and then someone tagged me in a picture with a fish and they were like, ‘This is you ‘cause your eyes are like here.’

I was really upset about it and I didn’t enjoy it.”

The Queen’s Gambit star went on to reveal that she was not able to look at herself in the mirror for a ‘very long time’ afterwards, and added:

“I still don’t really spend a lot of time in front of mirrors because I don’t really have to deal with my face. Unfortunately, y’all do.”

She told the interviewer that she had been ‘growing unto’ herself, and that she was learning to become ‘a bit less awkward.’

Since the interview resurfaced, fans have been expressing their sympathy and sending love to the 27-year-old star. Many were left in uproar, and have rushed to her defense.
