Bebe Rexha is opening up about her struggles with body image.

The 32-year-old musician took to social media on Monday (December 27) to share an “honest update” to her fans about why she’s been noticeably posting less open her platforms.

In a video she uploaded on TikTok, a bare-faced Bebe Rexha got incredibly real about how she’s been battling her body image issues. She began by saying:

“So, it’s the holidays, and I know we’re all supposed to be merry and like, ‘Yay, it’s the holidays!’ Which I am – ish.”

She began to tear up and get emotional as she candidly spoke about the weight gain she experienced over the past year:

“I think I am the heaviest I’ve ever been. I weighed myself just now, and I don’t feel comfortable sharing the weight ‘cause I feel embarrassed. Not just about that. I just feel like disgusting, you know, in my own body.”

The singer went on to tell her fans that her body image struggles have kept her from being more visible on social media:

“I haven’t been posting as much because I don’t feel good in my skin and when I don’t feel good, I don’t want to post.

And that’s really honestly the reason why U haven’t been posting as much in the last year or so, as much as I used to.”

She ended by emotionally sharing that her body positive attitude comes from “a place of hurt” and “confusion,” heartbreakingly stating that she doesn’t know how to “help herself” or “love herself” anymore.

Bebe Rexha’s “honest update” concluded there, but this vulnerability and conversations is not new for the pop star, who’s long been vocal about embracing your body at any size. In November 2019, she said in an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she wants her concerts to be all about self-love:

“The shows are always, like, young girls, young guys, or like daughters with their mothers. I say, ‘I don’t care what anybody has told you, a number doesn’t define you.’

And I think it’s really important for my fans to know that I’m not trying to be that. I don’t care.”

In July of this year, she spoke about her body positive stance to ET’s Denny Directo, declaring:

“Honestly, just do you. Wear that bathing suit. Wear that bikini. Even if you gained those five pounds or you lost too much weight, or you have the stretch marks, wear the bikini.

Who cares. Who cares. You’re gonna look back in 10 years and say, ‘Wow, I was so hot.’”
