Beyonce and Jay-Z are enjoying a glam night out in London.

The music power couple made a surprise appearance at the premiere of The Harder They Fall during BFI’s London Film Festival – Jay-Z is one of the film’s producers and also co-wrote some of the songs on the film.

Beyonce went on Instagram to share photos of their fab looks for the evening – she wore a stunning black Valdrin Shahiti gown to the event, with her hubby color-matching her in a classic tux.

She also posed for glam shots in the strapless, figure-hugging gown against several backdrops – including the red carpet, where she completed her look with blue-tinted glasses and a sliver clutch.

During the event, Jay-Z talked about Black representation in western movies.

“Just to see us represented, you know, with a lot of films, we didn’t see ourselves in westerns, as if we didn’t exist. It is almost odd, people think that it’s like a caricature, that they are playing roles, but they’re not playing roles. These names like Stagecoach Mary, all the actors in this, they really existed in this time, so [it’s good to] just see us represented and see that we have voices. There were so many towns that people didn’t know about, so to bring interesting stories to the big screen, and also educate, any time you can do that is just a blessing,” the rapper said, via PA Media.

Their surprise appearance at the event comes a couple of weeks after Beyonce shared a handwritten note with fans where she reflected on turning 40, discounting the notion that women are “supposed to feel old or unhappy.”

After thanking her fans for their birthday tributes, she shared, “This is the first year that I really understand what it means to be alive and to live in the moment. It’s the first time that I have an understanding of how fragile life truly is, how hard life can be at times, and therefore how important it is to stop and smell the roses during the good times. I thought I knew that at 21 or 30…but I didn’t. The more mature I become, the more I understand and the deeper my joy grows. There’s a freedom and liberation knowing that I’ve made it to the other side of my sacrifice. I’m finally giving myself permission enjoy the seeds I’ve worked so hard to plant my whole life.”
