Britney Spears is making one thing crystal clear ahead of the release of her highly-anticipated memoir The Woman In Me: The book is in no way a hit piece.

On Friday (October 20) the 41-year-old Princess Of Pop took to social media to address the way the media has been covering excerpts from her memoir. She spoke about the headlines that are stirring up a ton of drama between her and the subjects of her memoir, which include her famous ex Justin Timberlake.

Britney wrote on Instagram:

“My books purpose was not to offend anyone by any means. That was me then… That is in the past!!!

I don’t like the headlines I am reading… That’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago.”

She went on to declare:

“I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here!!! I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life!!! Either way, that is the last of it and s*** happens!!!”

She concluded with these words:

“This is actually a book that I didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!! Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood !!! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly !!! I have moved on since then.”

Speaking of her memoir, one of the things she tackled was her long-rumored fling with Colin Farrell back in 2003. She said that after she broke up with Justin, she and Colin were set up through a “club promoter friend.”

She described their romance as a “two-week brawl,” writing:

“Brawl is the only word for it – we were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight.”

She said that she soon realized she was not over Justin yet:

“As I had before when I’d felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was not a big deal, that we were just having fun, that in this case, I was vulnerable because I wasn’t over Justin.

For a brief moment in time, I did think there could be something there. The disappointments in my romantic life were just one part of how isolated I became. I felt so awkward all the time.”

Britney tackled yet another hot topic in her memoir – her Vegas marriage to Jason Alexander. In case you missed it, back in 2004 Britney married her childhood friend Jason while they were in Las Vegas. The marriage was annulled after just 55 hours.

In her memoir, Britney said that they did it because they were “s***-faced” and bored:

“I don’t even remember that night at all, but from what I’ve pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies — Mona Lisa Smile and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre — then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning.

I was just honestly very drunk — and probably, in a more general sense at that time in my life, very bored.”
