Celebs and fans alike have been buzzing about the new (unauthorized) documentary about Britney Spears titled, Framing Britney Spears.

The documentary, created by The New York Times, follows the pop icon’s meteoric rise to fame, how she was painted in the media, and her subsequent struggles leading up to her current circumstances – including her controversial conservatorship. The doc also touched on past interviews and her past relationships.

There’s also been speculation that Britney stepping away from the stage was her way of protesting against her father’s control amid their ongoing conservatorship battle – she shut down her Las Vegas residency over a year ago.

After watching the documentary, many celebs, including Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Lucy Hale, Hayley Kiyoko and more, have taken to social media to show their support for Britney.

Britney’s boyfriend, Sam Asghari, also went on social media to call Britney’s dad a “total d—k.”

“It’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” he wrote. “In my opinion Jamie is a total d–k.”

“I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom,” he continued.

Although it’s unclear whether Britney herself has seen the unauthorized doc about her life, according to an Entertainment Tonight source, she is aware of it.

“She’s always made aware of any important new releases that pertain to her life and career, and this was no different,” the source told the outlet. “She hasn’t seen the documentary because she never likes to focus on what others say about her.”

And shortly after the doc’s release, Britney went on social media to reflect on performing onstage – and seemingly address the documentary.

After admitting that she’s always loved “being on stage,” Britney went on to explain her decision to step away from the stage, writing, “I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person ….. I love simply enjoying the basics of every day life.”

“Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories. We all have so many different bright beautiful lives,” she continued. “Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”
