Stars spend much of their time in the spotlight – and privacy comes at a premium. So when they want to put their feet up and relax away from prying eyes or just get closer to nature, it’s no surprise some are willing to drop a big chunk of change for rural retreat to call home.
From sprawling ranches to luxury farms, these stars enjoy a respite from city life in a haven of their own.
Chris Pratt & Katherine Schwarzenegger
These two own a gorgeous ranch in Washington State’s San Juan Island called Stillwater Ranch where they raise hundreds of sheep, and dozens of chickens and goats, plus, other animals. They actually bought it before they were married – and shared the hilariously ingenious way they came up with for measuring their new home for furniture after they forgot the measuring tape.
Zayn Malik
We all know Gigi Hadid’s mom Yolanda has a farm up in Pennsylvania, but did you know her boyfriend Zayn Malik also owns one near it? Gigi spent much of her pregnancy in Pennsylvania, and it’s been reported that she gave birth to daughter Khai there. They have horses and cows in the property and even grown their own tomatoes, cucumbers and cherries in the vegetable garden. More recently, Gigi also shared that they’ve been harvesting a crop of peppers as well.
Blake Shelton
The country star is the proud owner of the 1,300-acre Ten Point Ranch in Oklahoma, which has been the venue of some of the most memorable moments in his life. In 2020, he proposed to then-girlfriend Gwen Stefani there. It’s also where they tied the knot earlier this year – in a chapel he had built on the grounds, no less. The property also has ponds, fields and trails. And there’s plenty of room for their horses to roam – he bought one for Gwen as a birthday gift in 2016, and bought one for himself so they could ride together!
Kanye West
Ye doesn’t do anything halfway and when he decided he wanted a ranch, he didn’t just buy one – he bought two! He initially dropped $14 Million on Monster Lake Ranch, a 9,000-acre property in Cody Wyoming which includes two freshwater lakes in the property. It also comes with horse barns, a shooting range, and it’s very own saloon. He then splurged another $14.495 million for the 6,700-acre Bighorn Mountain Ranch, which boasts log cabins and lodges with walk-in saunas. And as if that’s not OTT enough, it has heated helicopter pads as well.
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
The couple shelled out $4.5 Million for a farm closer to home – a 111-acre farmland in Bunya Hill, Australia. It comes with a farmhouse, an orchard, and a resident herd of Black Angus cows. They also raise six alpacas and some chickens on their property.
Amanda Seyfried
It’s always been a dream of her to one day own a farm – and in 2019, she revealed that she was able to make it come true. Amanda loves animals and raises donkey, chickens, horses and goats in her farm in upstate New York.
Reese Witherspoon
In case you didn’t know, Reese is a low-key real-estate mogul. Among her properties is a picturesque $6.25 Million hobby farm in Malibu which was previously used as a wedding venue. The two-acre property boasts a farmhouse from the 1940s, plus a guest barn, an art studio and a yoga room. And if they’re not hitting up Zuma Beach, which is just a few steps away, they can enjoy movie night in their very own screening room that comes with a wet bar.
