Sex And The City’s main leading man is giving his honest thoughts on the very public feud between two of the biggest stars of the original show.

Chris Noth, who played Mr. Big on the iconic series, worked very closely with the women of Sex And The City all throughout its original run on HBO plus its two subsequent films. He

Now, he is working once more with most of the SATC cast in the HBO Max reboot titled And Just Like That. Notably, Kim Catrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original series, is the only main character who opted out of the reboot.

Her absence has been much discussed and speculated on, as her issues with the show’s lead Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, has been publicly known for years.

Chris was asked in a recent interview about his thoughts on Kim’s decision as well as what she’s publicly stated about SJP. Over the years, Kim has said that she was never friends with SJP, that the on-set relationships felt toxic, and that she wouldn’t do a third movie with them, among other things. Kim has also lashed out at SJP for “exploiting” a tragedy in Kim’s family.

Chris gave his real, honest take on the matter, saying:

“I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Kim’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close.

I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.”

He also stated that he feels “very protective” of his on-screen leading lady and real-life friend:

“I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that.”
