Peloton is setting the record straight about that heartbreaking twist on And Just Like That… — with a little help from Ryan Reynolds and Chris Noth!

HBO Max’s Sex And The City reboot had fans all over the world reeling when fan favorite character Mr. Big, who was Carrie Bradshaw’s main love interest all throughout the original series and films and was now her husband on the show, died tragically of a heart attack. Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, had just completed his 1000th ride on a Peloton bike with his instructor Allegra when the tragedy occurred.

In a new ad for the fitness brand, viewers see Chris and real-life instructor Jess King, who played Allegra, on the couch. Chris holds up a glass and says:

“To new beginnings!”

Jess replies with:

“To new beginnings. You look great!”

Chris gives this tongue-in-cheek response:

“Well, I feel great! Should we take another ride? Life’s too short not to.”

Ryan then jumps in to narrate, sharing how rewarding and beneficial a Peloton bike ride can be, while cheekily referencing Mr. Big’s on-screen fate:

“And just like that, the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fast levels.”

He hilariously concludes by declaring:

“He’s alive!”

Ryan shared the new ad on his social media — and his wife, Blake Lively, expressed her support by sending her husband some cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery. She wrote:

“To my mister, who always goes BIG of goes home. I love you so much. But not as much as Peloton loves you. Xo Serena Bradshaw.

Yes the cupcakes were harmed in the taking of this photo… Luckily my husband can revive anything.”

Her hilarious signature references both Carrie Bradshaw and Blake’s own iconic TV character, Gossip Girl’s Serena van der Woodsen.

The Peloton commercial follows a statement about Big’s death which was released by Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, preventive cardiologist and member of Peloton’s health and wellness advisory council. The statement, released to the Los Angeles Times on Friday, read:

“I’m sure Sex and the City fans, like me, are saddened by the news that Mr. Big dies of a heart attack.

Mr. Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle — including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks — and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in season 6. These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event.

…Talk to your doctor, get tested, and have a healthy prevention strategy. Peloton helps you track heart rate while you ride, so you can do it safely.”
