The coronavirus pandemic has drastically altered much of our day-to-day lives for over a year now. Fortunately, COVID-19 vaccines are now being rolled out all over the country to help us in the fight against the ongoing pandemic. It’s a major step in preventing hospitalization or dying from coronavirus and also helps protect people from getting infected.

Priority has been given to frontliners and the elderly, as they are most at risk. The eligibility was recently expanded to include a wider range of eligibility. A-list celebrities are doing their part by getting inoculated against the virus – and sharing their experience on social media. And vaccine selfies are the newest social media trend to hit our timelines.

Check out which celebs have taken the next step in the fight against COVID-19:

Mariah Carey

Mimi shared a video of herself getting her first shot on April 3, hitting one of her signature high notes during the process. Captioning the clip, “Vaccine side effect: G6 🎵,” she also encouraged everyone to get the jab.

“Here we are, hoping for the best, encouraging you guys to do it when you can,” Mimi said in the clip. “We’re all in this together, as we’ve said. Love you much!”

Kelsea Ballerini

Sharing a photo of herself after getting her COVID-19 vaccine shot, the country music star shared a hopeful message on Instagram, writing, “Closer to being closer.”

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan got a dose of the vaccine on March 31, and jokingly captioned his photo, “Finally got 5G” – because apparently, there’s a conspiracy theory going around that contracting coronavirus is linked to high-speed mobile phone signals. Say, what now?

Blake Lively

Shortly after hubby Ryan got the shot, Blake also got the jab. Sharing a photo of the momentous occasion, she wrote, “Find you someone who looks at you like I look at the heroic nurse vaccinating me.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar

SMG went on Instagram to open up about the many reasons she got the vaccine. Posting a photo of herself getting the jab, she captioned it: “I am proud to say that I am fully vaccinated against #covid_19. As someone who suffers from severe asthma, and has been hospitalized because of it, this last year has been really scary. But I didn’t just get this shot for me. I got it for all the immune compromised people. I got it for every person that lost a loved one due to covid. I got it, in the hopes that all kids can return safely to school. I got it, for all people who found themselves suddenly unemployed due to covid, in the hopes they can get back on their feet. I got it for all the families that in a moment, found themselves food insecure and worried where their next meal would come from. I got it because I miss my friends and family and hugs. This wasn’t just about me. It’s about all of us. Thank you to everyone that made this day possible for me.”

Amy Schumer

For Amy, getting vaccinated was an important occasion – and wore her best dress for the event. She also shared a sweet message on her Instagram after receiving her dose, writing, “I want to thank all the brave people in the medical field…It’s nice to see all of them. I feel excited and hopeful. I hope you do too.”

Sarah Hyland

The Modern Family star whose been open about her health issues with fans – she underwent two kidney transplants, and suffers from endometriosis – celebrated receiving her COVID-19 vaccine on social media. “The luck of the Irish prevailed, and HALLELUJAH! I AM FINALLY VACCINATED!!!!! As a person with comorbidities and on immunosuppressants for life, I am so grateful to receive this vaccine. I am still remaining safe and following CDC guidelines, but once I receive my second dose? I will feel safe enough to go out every once in a while…GROCERY STORE HERE I COME! Thank you to the amazing Drs, nurses, and volunteers working every day to help save people’s lives,” she captioned a photo showing the band-aid over her arm’s jab location.

Amanda Kloots

Amanda tragically lost her husband, Nick Cordero, to COVID-19. Since becoming a single mom, she’s been terrified of contracting the virus herself – and celebrated when she was able to get the shot in February.

After noting that in Los Angeles, only essential workers and people over the age of 65 were able to book appointments, she opened up about the painstaking measures she took to become one step closer to ensuring her family’s safety in an emotional message on Instagram.

“I just got my COVID 19 vaccine! I went to a site and waited in my car until all appointments were over in hopes that they had any extra vaccines,” she began. “I cannot tell you how emotional I was and still am right now. I had Elvis beside me and Live Your Life playing in the car … I have been terrified since Nick has passed, as a single mother, of getting this virus, and now I am one step closer to safety.”

She also went on Instagram Story to encourage others to get the vaccine. “Everyone should be getting this vaccine, and anyone that gets it, we should be celebrating that one more person has got the vaccine,” she said.

Many other celebs and public figures have also gotten the vaccine – including President Joe Biden, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Penn, Kim Cattral, Tyler Perry, Jeff Goldblum, Dolly Parton, and more.

John Legend has also spoken out about why getting a vaccine is important to him.

Partnering with Walgreens for the PSA “This Is Our Shot,” John said, “I’ve just been watching what’s been going on in the nation and around the world. So many communities and families and lives have been disrupted by this virus and all the precautions we had to take to avoid getting it.”

“The scientists have done such quick and powerful work in experimenting and developing these vaccines that are actually effective at preventing the spread of this virus. Now that that’s happened, and these vaccines are widely available for the nation and the world, it is such beautiful, powerful thing,” he continued.

Reminding everyone that getting the vaccine was one way Americans can help bring an end to the coronavirus pandemic, John also noted that he wants “to make sure as many people take advantage of this opportunity as possible, because that’s the ticket to us getting back together.”

“That’s the ticket to us having concerts again, family reunions, barbeques, all of the things we’ve been missing out on,” he says. “I think so many people have been missing out on that touch, that human contact, and just being able to enjoy it without having in the back of your mind, ‘I might get sick from this,’ or, ‘I might pass this sickness on to someone in my family that’s vulnerable.'”

“Having that hanging over your head for an entire year has been a tough thing for so many people,” John added. “The vaccine is our shot to get past that.”

Take care and stay safe, everyone!
