Did Kanye West And Drake Re-ignite Their Years-Long Feud?

It looks like Drake and Kanye West’s tentative peace is over.

The two rappers made headlines over the weekend when their infamous feud was seemingly re-ignited after Trippie Redd dropped his fourth album Friday (August 20). Which featured a Drake collab.

In the track titled “Betrayal,” Drizzy namechecked Ye in his verse: “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (burned out), let it go / Ye ain’t changin’ s–t for me, it’s set in stone.”

Kanye seemingly responded on Instagram, posting a (since-deleted) screenshot from an unnamed group chat. The post was taken down soon after it went live – but not before other accounts were able to grab screenshots of it.

The texts showed a photo of Joaquin Phoenix in full Joker makeup, as well as a message that read, “I live for this. I’ve been f—–d with by nerd a– jock n—-s like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.”

Some think Drake’s verse is a dig at Kanye’s constantly changing release date for his upcoming album, Donda – which is currently set to drop on August 27. With Drake also slated to drop his upcoming album Certified Lover Boy on an as-yet undisclosed date, there’s speculation that both rappers could be delaying their release dates to be able to drop it on the same day and prompt a battle of the charts.

However, it’s not explicitly clear if the message was actually meant for Drake, but given the timing of the post and that it appears Pusha T, who also famously beefed with Drake after revealing news of the latter’s son, was recently added to the group chat, conclusions are being drawn. Eagle-eyed fans also point out that one of the members of the group chat is a contact whose name appeared with the initial “D.”

One of Kanye’s longtime collaborators, Consequence, went on Twitter and seemingly hit back at Drake’s verse as well.

“F–k a betrayal. It’s the disrespect for me dawg. Wit Trippie Redd shotgun. Respect my team. It’s party time,” he tweeted alongside a screenshot of lyrics from Drake’s verse.

In another since-deleted post, Kanye also seemingly shared the Google Maps location of Drake’s house in Toronto, Canada.

This is the latest installment in Drake, Kanye and Pusha T’s on-and-off feuds, which started as far back as 2009. Just last September, Kanye went on Twitter demanding an apology from Drake. Earlier this year, Drizzy also fueled rumors of his alleged affair with Kanye’s estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, on the track “Wants and Needs” on his Scary Hours 2 EP, which dropped in March, where he rapped, “Yeah, I probably go link to Yeezy I need me some Jesus / But as soon as I start confessin’ my sins, he wouldn’t believe us.”
