UPDATE: Sorry, guys, it appears Wizards Of Waverly Place won’t be back heading back to the small screens (yet?) – but there is another exciting reason behind Selena Gomez and David Henrie’s recent reunion!

David’s about to make his directorial debut in the upcoming film This Is The Year – and Selena’s executive producing it.

Even more exciting is more Wizards of Waverly Place alums are part of the cast – Gregg Sulkin and Jeff Garlin! Vanessa Marano, Jake Short, Alyssa Jirrels and Bug Hall are also part of the movie, which is about a nerdy high school senior who goes on a road trip with his pals to hit up a music festival and try to win over the girl of his dreams.

The former onscreen siblings reunited for the This Is The Year’s upcoming interactive virtual premiere – the first-ever of its kind! – on August 28. The virtual event will feature intros from David and Selena, a cast Q&A moderated by TikTok stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, and a music performance from lovelytheband. It’s all for a good cause, too – the premiere supports the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Original Story:

Is a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot happening?!?

Selena Gomez and David Henrie are sparking speculations of a reboot of their hit Disney show after posting a video of what looks like the two of them filming a project together – socially distanced, of course.

On Sunday (August 9), David went on Instagram to share a clip of him standing in front of a fake hedge and going, “hmm….” The camera then pans to the other side of the hedge to reveal Selena standing there, and teasingly echoes David’s pensive “hmm…”

Interestingly, the two appear to be on a set – Selena’s side of the hedge showed a glimpse of a professional lighting set up.

As for the clip’s caption, David wrote – you guessed it – “Hmm” and tagged Selena.

And if there was any doubts of the 28-year-old actress’ involvement, she also shared the clip on her Instagram Stories.

David and Selena starred together as onscreen siblings in Wizards of Waverly Place – and the two have remained close since the show wrapped in 2012. In 2017, when Selena posted her first Instagram Story, which also featured David, the two speculated about where their characters – David played the eldest Russo sibling, Justin, and Selena played his sister, Alex – would be now.

“You have kids. Alex is for sure single,” Selena said at the time.

“Yeah, Justin has, like, 15 children,” David agreed. “Alex is single; she’s still trying to find herself. She’s now, like, 25, and she’s trying to figure things out.”

“Max is lucky if he’s even found himself. Like, he’s literally lost,” he added, referring to their other former on-screen sibling, who was portrayed by Jake T. Austin. “He now just makes sandwiches on the street.”

Last year, David mentioned in an interview that he and Selena actually had an idea for a reboot – and, apparently, it’s something they talk about often.

“Selena and I have a reboot,” he told ET Live. “We sit and talk about it all the time. It’s not formal, but Selena and I sit and we talk about what would the reboot be. We have a whole take. We have a whole thing.”

Their recent mini-reunion comes a about week after David also reunited with their other co-stars, Gregg Sulkin and Jennifer Stone.

However, David also shared Instagram Stories of Tiktok stars Charlie and Dixie D’Amelio doing a similar exchange.

Do you think this has something to do with a Wizards Of Waverly Place reboot? Hmm…
