Diplo had a terrifying ordeal in mid-air on his way to Texas. Their plane, which was en route to El Paso at the time, suddenly had to make an emergency landing.

The emergency? The seal on the plane’s door broke mid-flight!

The DJ recounted harrowing experience on Instagram over the weekend. Sharing a photo taken before boarding the plane, he captioned it, “This is the picture I took right before we took off for El Paso for tonight.”

“In mid air our door seal broke and we had to sit with seats belts on tight so that we didn’t get swept out the airlock like princess Leia in episode 8.. (I guess the guy behind me was trying to fix it),” he continued. “anyway we are looking for a new jet so trying to make the show a little late… but we didn’t die so thats the good news and we are on track to live and work another day 🖤🤎🤍💔. (Update we are trying to still get to Texas tonight so [bear] with us….?

But this isn’t the first time that Diplo has had to deal with scary situations while airborne.

Back in August 2019, Diplo was set to perform at Flannagan’s Dublin in Columbus, Ohio. But on the way, they also experienced jet problems in mid-flight!

The DJ documented his terrifying experience on Instagram, sharing a photo of the plane’s cracked window and a pilot wearing a mask as well as a photo of himself meditating on the plane.

“Dear Colombus and Minneapolis, my jet window just cracked open and the pilots are wearing masks so not sure ill make my shows tonight but they left the wifi on so I’m just going to sit in the back and smoke toad venom and Vlog. I just bought this cool vest in Dallas at a thrift store,” he captioned the post.

”….. Also i never told you this but I might by gay…” he added, seemingly referencing a famous scene from Almost Famous where one of the characters yelled “I’m gay!” during a turbulent flight.

Fortunately, the plane was able to make it to their destination and land safely. Diplo went IG again to share the news with worried friends and fans. “Update: we landed and no one died I still might be gay but I’m definitely not going to tye die [sic] anymore jets,” he wrote.

He then jokingly shared reactions to his earlier post in the comments. “Ok so we landed in Columbus and everyone asked me if I was gay, not if I was safe just FYI…” he wrote.

He also shared a selfie on Instagram Story with an “I’m OK” gif and the caption, “I’m still breathing.”

It doesn’t appear to be the same private jet though – Diplo’s plane from 2019 was tie-dyed green and yellow while the one he recently rode is painted white and appears to be much smaller.
