Drake is reportedly fuming over Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show—and he might have just fired back in his own subtle way.
On Sunday (February 9), Kendrick took the stage for the highly anticipated Halftime Show, where he brought out SZA and even included a surprise cameo from Serena Williams. But what really raised eyebrows was his setlist, which featured Not Like Us and Euphoria—both diss tracks aimed at Drake.
Now, sources claim that the Certified Lover Boy rapper isn’t taking it lightly. An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Drake is “angry” about the performance but is “acting like he doesn’t care”
That nonchalance might be an act, though. Shortly after the show, Drake reportedly took to his burner Instagram account to post a throwback picture of himself with Serena’s longtime agent, Jill Smoller. The shot, taken at Wimbledon in 2015, shows Drake with his arm around Jill’s neck—a possible clap back to Serena’s Super Bowl appearance.
To add even more drama, Not Like Us has gone viral again, riding the wave of its Grammy wins and the Super Bowl performance. Meanwhile, Drake’s legal team issued a statement just hours before the halftime show aired, taking aim at Universal Music Group.
The statement reads: “UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely ‘entertainment’, but there is nothing entertaining about pedophilia or child abuse in the real world. We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial, including information we’ve already learned and continue to receive since filing the lawsuit, will expose UMG’s gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists’ well-being and the truth.”
For now, the feud between Kendrick and Drake shows no signs of cooling down. If anything, the Super Bowl just turned up the heat.
