Dua Lipa is celebrating her heritage.

The 27-year-old pop superstar has been granted citizenship to Albania. The citizenship was granted to the Future Nostalgia performer by president Bajram Begaj on Sunday (November 27), right before Albania’s 110th anniversary of independence from the Ottoman Empire.

In granting citizenship to Dua, the president stated it was an honor for himself. He credited the singer for her role in spreading Albanian’s fame all over the globe with her music.

Before taking her citizenship oath at Tirana City Hall, Due shared to ET Canada:

“I will be an Albanian with papers too.”

She expressed her happiness at now being an Albanian citizen, saying:

“It is an indescribably great joy with such acceptance, love and everything.”

Dua then took a passport photo, was fingerprinted, and then signed an application form for ID and passport.

The singer was born in London, England in 1995. Her Albanian parents, Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, hail from Kosovo.

Dua will perform in Tirana’s main Skanderberg Square on Monday (November 28) in commemoration of Independence Day. Congratulations!
