Fans and celebrities have been wild on social media over the epic performances at Super Bowl LIV on Sunday (February 2).

Demi Lovato kicked off the Super Bowl by belting out a beautiful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Ahead of her performance, Idina Menzel tweeted her support for the “Anyone” songstress.

“Sending love today and break a leg to my girl @ddlovato  Relish the moment. You’re incredible. #SuperBowl #NationalAnthem,” she wrote.

Rocking a white pantsuit with a sparkly silver top, Demi slayed her performance from beginning to end – and fans are singing her praises on social media.

“Demi Lovato just won the Super Bowl… sorry I don’t make the rules,” one fan wrote.

“I didn’t think Demi Lovato could sound better than her Grammys performance but WOW was I wrong 😍 she’s unbelievably talented,” another tweeted.

“Demi Lovato … Wow 👏👏👏👏👏 Sang that perfectly !! That was highkey the best version of the national anthem I’ve heard at a game ! #SuperBowl,” one person declared.

Even celebs were blown away.

“Really need to say , WOW!  @ddlovato gave a gorgeous performance at #SuperBowl2020, right after that insane #Grammy’s performance. 2x💯⭐️ I mean  … What a week for her !,” Reese Witherspoon wrote.

“Crushed. It. @ddlovato! #SuperBowl,” Ryan Seacrest tweeted.

“Yes #demilovato. That was perfect … as are you ❤️” Hoda Kotb shared.

Performing the national anthem at the Super bowl was a dream come true for Demi, who, 10 years ago, tweeted about it. And she celebrated the occasion by sharing a screenshot of her old tweet and the announcement graphic of her national anthem performance at the game on Instagram.

“Dreams really do come true y’all. 🙏🏼🙌🏼💗,” she captioned the post.

With that dream in the bag, she’s setting her sights on something a little bigger.

“One day, I’m gonna perform the halftime show at the super bowl. Onnnee dayyy….” she tweeted.

Super Bowl definitely opened on a high note, but the excitement was far from over as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers. And, when halftime came, fans finally got to watch Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s highly-anticipated halftime show.

Ahead of their performance, JLo took to Instagram to share a message for her co-headliner. “So excited to share the stage with you tonight @Shakira! ✨💕✨ Let’s show the world what two little Latin girls can do,” she captioned a photo of the two of them hugging.

Shakira, who celebrated her 43rd birthday on Sunday, kicked things off with an incredible hi-shaking performance. From disco strutting to “She Wolf,” and wigging out on a black sequined guitar in “Empire”, she then brought out Bad Bunny as they did a cover of Cardi B’s “I Like It.” She wrapped her six-minute set crowd surfing as she sang “Hips Don’t Lie.”

JLo came next, opening her set with “Jenny From The Block,” bringing a replica of the Empire State Building to the stage. She also showed off her gravity defying pole dancing skills on “Waiting For Tonight.” J. Balvin joined her for “My Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and a portion of “Mi Gente.” JLo also had a super proud momma moment when her 11-year-old daughter, Emme, stole the show with “Let’s Get Loud” and “Born in the USA.”

They also paid tribute to Kobe Bryant during the performance: with a giant yellow and purple cross – the colors of Kobe’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers – bathing the field at the Hard Rock stadium during “Let’s Get Loud.”

The two superstars later teamed up for the finale, with a booty-shaking salsa-inspired performance of “Waka Waka.”

These ladies absolutely slayed – and fans and celebs are totally loving it!

“@JLo and @shakira and all the special guests were so incredible!!! What a fun halftime show I danced and smiled the whole time. Such powerful sexy women!!!! On camera and off!!!!! Love you beautiful sexy talented women 💕💋,” Lady Gaga praised their performance.

“They really shut it down!!!! Congrats on that amazing SuperBowl Halftime Show

“Best Super Bowl show! Congrats to @shakira @jlo and the @nfl for an amazing performance… if I was 14 I would have had a heart attack watching those two do that,” The Chainsmokers expressed.

“My sis @JLo KILLING HALFTIME!!! Dope…,” Ja Rule shared.

Christina Aguilera was all for celebrating girl power at the SB – and gave Demi, JLo and Shakira a shoutout. “All my girls DOMINATED at the #SuperBowl!!!!!! 🙌🙌👏👏👏 That’s what happens when a powerful female force comes together!!!!!!” she wrote, tagging the three performers.

In other Super Bowl news…

Tons of celebs came out to Miami, Florida over the weekend to catch the Super Bowl LIV at the Hard Rock Stadium, including Beyonce, hubby Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy.

It’s not really surprising to see the Carters there – Jay-Z recently partnered with the NFL to collaborate on entertainment events and social justice programs, and is a co-producer of Shakira and JLo’s halftime show. However, many fans were surprised when a video that TMZ published, the family was seen staying seated during the national anthem, which sparked a lot of feelings on Twitter-verse.

Some fans called them out for not showing patriotism, while others defended their choice to remain seated.

It’s not clear why they chose to remain seated as Demi belted out the “Star-Spangled Banner,” but it doesn’t seem to be anything personal against Demi – Beyonce was subtly bopping to Demi’s singing, and Blue was also seen recording the performance on her phone.

Jay-Z previously faced backlash when he announced partnering with the NFL last year, after becoming one of Colin Kapaernick’s biggest supporters. In an interview with The New York Times, he shared that he still supports Colin and his protest, but he’s also interested with working with the NFL to make substantial changes, and was even willing to absorb “negative press” to effect change.

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s reps have yet to respond to requests for comments.
