In the whimsical world of romantic comedies, chemistry is king, and for Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, their on-screen spark ignited more than just the silver screen. As the duo basked in the success of ‘Anyone But You,’ a rom-com that captured hearts and box office receipts alike, rumors of a real-life affair began to swirl, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the film’s already captivating narrative.

For Powell, the key to selling a rom-com lies in two simple ingredients: fun and chemistry. In an interview with The New York Times, he shed light on the effortless rapport he shares with Sweeney, acknowledging the undeniable chemistry that permeates their on-screen interactions.

“Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry,” Powell revealed. “That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully.”

Yet, behind the scenes, Sweeney played a pivotal role not just as Powell’s co-star but as an executive producer through her Fifty-Fifty Films company. Deeply invested in the film’s success, she immersed herself in every facet of the marketing strategy, from brainstorming sessions to late-night text exchanges.

“I was on every call. I was in text group chats. I was probably keeping everybody over at Sony marketing and distribution awake at night because I couldn’t stop with ideas,” Sweeney confessed.

Her involvement wasn’t just about promoting a film; it was about fostering a dialogue with the audience, inviting them to be active participants in the journey. “I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film because, at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative,” she explained passionately.

As the film soared to success, grossing over $200 million worldwide, the whispers of a real-life romance between Powell and Sweeney only added to the mystique. Yet, amidst the speculation and intrigue, one thing remained clear: ‘Anyone But You’ wasn’t just a film; it was a testament to the power of chemistry, both on and off the screen. And as audiences reveled in the magic of Bea and Ben’s whirlwind romance, Powell and Sweeney’s dynamic partnership proved that sometimes, the best stories are the ones we write together.
