Awards season has officially begun.

The 2023 Gotham Awards ceremony kicked off awards season last Monday (November 27). The biggest and brightest stars of Hollywood were in attendance at Cipriani Wall Street in new York City.

In the past, Gotham Awards only celebrated independent films. This year, they have removed the requirement that qualifying projects should be made for under $35 million. Some of the contenders for this year’s awards included big budget films such as Barbie.

The Gothams likewise also took away gendered acting categories and opted for an Outstanding Lead Performance category and an Outstanding Supporting Performance category, each having 10 nominees under it.
