Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been among Hollywood’s cutest couples since they began dating in 2015. The very talented pair are total celeb couple goals with their adorable interactions on The Voice, their great music collabs, their sweet posts about each other on social media, and how they talk about each other during interviews.
And in 2020, they made us smile with their joyful news: They were engaged!!!
In October, Gwen and Blake announced their engagement on social media. They took to Instagram to share their happy news. Blake posted a photo of him and Gwen smooching while she is holding up her hand where he put a ring on that finger. Along with the photo, he wrote:
“Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!”
Gwen posted the same photo on her Instagram, sweetly writing:
“@blakeshelton yes please!”
Now, Gwen is sharing more details about their relationship and the proposal!
In an interview on The Tonight Show last Tuesday (January 6), Gwen opened up to Jimmy Fallon about her headspace at the the time of the proposal. She shared:
“Wasn’t expecting it at the moment that it happened, at all. Didn’t have any idea, nobody knew.
I think he had told my dad on my birthday about two weeks earlier, and I gotta tell you, I was sorta like, What’s happening with us?”
She also revealed that she was already wondering about things at the time prior, because they’d already been together for years. Gwen adorably said:
“It was kind of in my mind like, We’ve been together a long time now. What’s going on? I was in that place in my head.”
Gwen then went on to jokingly say that Blake should have done it sooner! She hilariously stated:
“It’s like, Blake, why couldn’t you have done it before! Now we can’t have a wedding with the pandemic.
It’s like sitting around going, OK, drag it out more!”
Yup, the reason Gwen was joking about it is because now as it is, it may be a while before they actually get married, because they want to wait until after the pandemic is over to exchange “I dos”.

A few weeks ago, Gwen revealed that she almost ruined Blake’s whole proposal plan! In an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 51-year-old singer explained:
“I had no idea, obviously. In fact, I was trying to get out of going to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with COVID and the family.
I was like, ‘I think we should just cancel the trip.’ It was one of those.
Then we got it together and we ended up going. [Our family] was all there.”
Blake proposed to Gwen during that fateful Oklahoma trip!
Oh, you two. So adorable all the way!
