Harry Styles just confirmed that “Watermelon Sugar” is about more than just “touching.”

The 27-year-old singer has been hitting stages across the country on his Love on Tour concert series. During his stop in Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday (October 1), Harry intro’d the song with a bit of a teaser.

“This song is about … it doesn’t really matter what it’s about,” he began.

“It’s about, uh, the sweetness of life,” he coyly added.

But after Harry sang a few lines from the song, he paused to reveal that there really was more to it than that.

“It’s also about the female orgasm, but that’s totally different,” he admitted. “It’s not really relevant.”

“Watermelon Sugar” dropped in November 2019, and the lyrics’ seeming double-entendre has been the subject of some speculation. Take for example: “Tastes like strawberries / On a summer evenin’ / And it sounds just like a song / I want your belly / And that summer feelin’ / I don’t know if I could ever go without.”

And when the music video for “Watermelon Sugar” dropped in May 2020, it also featured a message at the start: “This video is dedicated to touching.” The video went on to show showcase all kinds of physical affection.

Harry did an NPR Tiny Desk concert, during which he shared the inspiration behind the track.

“We had this chorus/melody which was pretty repetitive and a Richard Brautigan book, In Watermelon Sugar, was on the table,” he explained. “And I was like, ‘That would sound cool.'”

But when Apple Music’s Zane Lowe previously asked him if the track was about “the joys of mutually appreciated oral pleasure,” he played coy with his response, only confirming that he just wanted the song to feel “less guarded, a lot freer, more joyful, and honest.”

Harry may have provided a clue though. He previously told Rolling Stone that his entire album Fine Line, which was written in the wake of his breakup from Camille Row, was about “having sex and feeling sad.”

However, he’s since found love again with Olivia Wilde – and these two are very much loved-up. She even made a surprise appearance during his Las Vegas show last month when the tour kicked off.

Harry’s also gotten support from his celebrity friends – including Halsey, who attended his concert in New York City on Monday (October 4).

And Harry totally gave her a sweet shoutout.

While singing his song “Kiwi,” fans believed he changed up the lyric “I’m having your baby” to “You just had a baby,” while appearing to point at the new mom from the stage.

And, yes, Halsey’s fans totally loved it!
