Justin Bieber is opening up about the reason he and wife Hailey are waiting to have kids.

Justin and Hailey tied the knot in September 2018 in a secret ceremony at a New York City courthouse. They said “I do” again in front of family and friends a year later. The couple have been pretty open about wanting to start a family – but both have also repeatedly said they’re in no rush.

In August, the two almost broke the internet when they each shared a photo cuddling a newborn baby on social media –Hailey’s older sister Alaia Baldwin and her hubby Andrew Aronow had just welcomed their daughter at the time and doting Aunt Hailey and Uncle Justin came to visit.

Justin’s post has since gotten millions of likes – with many fans remarking on getting a glimpse of Justin as a dad. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson even teased the couple in the comments, writing, “This image pretty much seals the deal. Fully expect you and H to have a baby in 2021. 😉👊🏾.”

In his new interview on The Ellen DeGeneres show, however, Justin once again talked about why they’re waiting to have kids.

“I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman and I think she is just not ready yet. And I think that’s okay,” he told the host.

And he also revealed how many kids they want to have.

“I’m going to have as many [kids] as Hailey is wishing to push out,” Justin said. “I’d love to have myself a little tribe. But, it’s her body and whatever she wants to do… I think she wants to have a few. At least two or three.”

However, it seems Justin is definitely gearing up for when the time comes – he’s saving space on his back to get a tattoo for his future kids.

This isn’t the first time Justin showed his feminist side by showing his support for his wife’s decisions when it comes to child bearing. When he appeared on Ellen in March, he and the host played a game of “Burning Questions” – and they touched on how many kids he and Hailey might have.

“I think it’s up to Hailey, because it’s her body,” he replied.

Here’s everything Justin and Hailey have said about starting a family:

In a 2018 interview with Vogue Arabia, while noting that they’re not expanding their family “anytime soon,” Hailey did share that she was one step closer to having her own family.

“I love kids and I can’t wait to have my own,” she told the magazine. “I would say now that’s a closer reality.”

In their joint interview for their Vogue cover story in February 2019, Hailey said they won’t be having little Biebers running around “for at least a couple of years.”

In February 2020, Hailey revealed to Popsugar that she’s saving some room in her body ink collection for her future children. Around the same time, Justin also told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that he and Hailey are still enjoying their time as a married couple, but expanding their family is definitely coming next.

“I want to start my own family in due time,” he said. “I want to enjoy being married for a little bit, go on tour, be married, enjoy traveling with just us, build more of our relationship. And I think, yeah, that is definitely the next step for sure.”
